Prague, 23 March 2009 –The national telecommunications operator GTS Novera launched its new service, Novera virtual fax. This allows a user to send and receive faxes simply and quickly, either directly from an e-mail program or using a web interface, regardless of where the user is located at any given time. The Novera virtual fax service offers the well-organised archiving of faxes and enables companies to save on time and money. Naturally traditional fax machines can still be used, even when using VoIP technology.

“Despite having been around for a long time the fax is still a tried-and-tested communication channel in many companies and institutions. We are the first of the large telecommunications operators in the Czech Republic to offer customers a service which makes of the fax a modern means of communication. The Novera virtual fax represents a robust backup solution intended specifically for company use,” saysPavel Brabenec, Director of the Products and Project Management Division at GTS Novera.

Fax as e-mail

Using the Novera virtual fax service faxes can be received and sent using any e-mail program – a fax arrives in a user’s mailbox just like an ordinary e-mail. The user themselves then decides whether they need to print it out or whether it ca remain in electronic form. And the fax can be worked with in the same way as a regular e-mail – it can be forwarded to a colleague, transferred to another folder, or saved. When sending a fax the receiver simply has to select the requisite fax number – since many recipients can be specified the despatch of mass faxes is very simple. If the user wants to send an electronic document by fax, they do not have to print it out, and the same principle is at work when sending a fax via a web interface. An important advantage of the service is the possibility of connecting up an existing fax machine, even when using VoIP technology.

Significant reduction in costs

Thanks to its simple controls the Novera virtual fax speeds up work with documents. It also offers customers savings on print costs, on servicing the fax machine, and lower telecommunication transfer charges – the speed of the Novera virtual fax service makes the transfer time shorter. All faxes, both received and sent, are saved on a fax server and can be reread, forwarded or printed out at any time. Existing fax numbers can be transferred to the GTS Novera network without any further cost or failure. What’s more, because the service is so easy to use, every company employee can have their own fax number.

The price for the use of one fax number is CZK 50 per month. If the customer wishes to use a standard fax machine and signs a contract for two years, they will receive a converter to connect up their fax machine for CZK 1. The monthly fee for using the converter is CZK 200. If the customer uses the service Novera IP complete, then depending on the size of the solution they will receive up to four fax numbers and two converters free of charge.
