Palace Cinemas is the largest operator of multicinemas in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. The company operates multicinema venues and provides other related services. The media representative Palace Media and the film distribution division Palace Pictures are both the parts of the company.

The major telecommunications operator GTS Central Europe (GTS CE), a corporate group which includes GTS Novera, launched MPLS network for Palace Cinemas in February 2007. This voice and data network is interconnecting thee multicinema venues and the branches of the company in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary, allowing the company operate the remote access system for mobile users or the central booking or accounting systems.

“For the customer the whole system works as an intra-company network with company branches in other countries connected to it. For security reasons it has one central Internet access connection and a uniform security system,” explained Stuart Evers, International Sales manager for GTS CE. “State borders are no longer barriers for business in the Central Europe. International company often have headquarters in one country and branches in several other countries so, quite logically, they don’t want to be restricted by borders even when it comes to providing telecommunication services. So, now we approach Central Europe as a single region and this is why we offer a single regional network with uniform services.”

The network, which includes IP VPN service, has a central Internet access connection with capacity 100 Mbit/s via GTS Novera Data Centre. The Czech operator also provides additional services such as e-mail server or network security system including antispam filters. antivirus software and firewall. The network can also be accessed remotely, the user can access it when travelling or from home. In addition, Palace Cinemas use Novera housing service with servers set up in GTS Novera Data Centre. The network interconnects 19 multicinema venues in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
